HMD Global is working hard on prioritizing software support and for this reason, it has recently made headlines. Yes, now it’s about Nokia 5 and 6. These models are receiving the August security patch. The Google Pixel and Nexus devices are going to receive it too on the same day! The CPO at HMD global, Juhi Sarvikas also shared on social media that Nokia 3, the budget phone will be getting the Android O update.
According to the screenshots shared by the publication, the update is of 120.2 MB. The security patch is based only on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. If push notification is not received, then go to Settings-> About Phone-> System Update.
It was reported that Nokia 6 was to first get the July Android security patch, even before Google Pixel and Nexus devices. But, it has been delayed. HMD Global recently left a statement to Gadgets 360 regarding this. The company promised to give software support for two years for its Android phones.
Earlier it was said that Android O was to arrive on Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones. But, the CPO at HMD global tweeted the confirmation of just Nokia 3 with the Android O update. It is good to see companies coming front to get security patches serious. Apart from Nokia and Google, Blackberry is also in the race.
Nokia 6 has been priced Rs.14,999 in India and the first sale registrations are already open. The sale of the phone is said to begin on August 23 through Amazon India. Nokia 5 has been priced at Rs. 12, 899 and the pre-booking of this phone has also started in the offline channels.
