Apple Iphone X, the most hyped phone at the moment has released and is receiving a lot of reviews from the crowd. With a spectacular edge-to-edge display, this phone has an amazing front display. Iphone X has an intact top bezel which is not present in latest phones like Xiaomi’s Mi Mix2, Samsung’s Galaxy S8, and LG’s V30. The camera array of this latest iPhone is extremely amazing and odd-looking.
Long before the official release of the design, there were several leaked designs. This was an automatic promotion for the phone and a lot of discussions it was in the air. While some mocked this embracing of the notch as “Steve Jobs would have never let that happen”, some others say it is a “notch mode” from Chrome. This adds a black cut-out to every video on YouTube. The screen layout has been receiving a lot of positive and negative critics.
There are discussions on the apps not able to fill in the status bar with custom colors or to extend to full screen. Some also criticized its design is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S8. As iPhone X uses a portrait mode for most of the tasks, the notch will not be an issue to view photos, videos and play games.
Apple iPhone X has paved a way to encourage developers to think of unique ways to handle displays. According to Apple’s own developer guidelines:
Don’t mask or call special attention to key display features. Don’t attempt to hide the device’s rounded corners, sensor housing, or indicator for accessing the Home screen by placing black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Don’t use visual adornments like brackets, bezels, shapes, or instructional text to call special attention to these areas either.
It seems like iPhone developers will definitely be stuck with the notch that’s obstructive when it comes to creating iOS apps.
