First ODI – India vs Sri Lanka Review

India vs Sri Lanka-first ODI

You must have watched the first ODI of India vs Sri Lanka, yesterday. An awesome match that was, isn’t it? Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli played their best in the game. While Virat Kohli hit a brilliant 82*, Shikhar Dhawan blasted an awesome score of 132.

The partnership of Shikhar and Virat with 197- runs helped India crush Sri Lanka by nine wickets. This was what happened in the Dambulla ODI. This made it 1-0 for India in the five-match series.

It was Shikhar Dhawan’s 11th century. Virat said that they would reach 300 runs if the pitch is good to bat on. Everything fell in place when batting came in the latter half of the day. This was a dream he said. It was a purple patch for Dhawan for the last three months. If he remains in this phase, then it will be a happy thing for fans to see the team win.

Shikhar was the man of the match. His review of the match in his words was,“I have only kept my focus on the processes and not on the results. The mental preparation helps me keep confidence in myself.”

It is Upul Tharanga who leads Sri Lanka in the five-match ODI. The world champions of 1996 need to win two matches at least, in order to get a direct place in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. They have to stave off the challenge from the West Indies Team. September 30 is the cut-off date for direct qualification.

Sri Lanka bags 88 points and it is in the eighth place. That makes it just 10 points more than the west indies. Anyways, a 4-1 win for India makes Sri Lanka finish with 88 points. The West Indies could overcome them on decimal points if they do well in the upcoming 6 matches. However, it’s a big thumb up to India in this spectacular first ODI of India vs Sri Lanka.
